Description The Planner/Buyer is responsible for scheduling and organizing daily production orders based on customer priorities, ensuring timely assembly, and maintaining optimal stock availability. Acting as a key liaison between production, purchasing, and sales teams, this position ensures on-time delivery, smooth workflow, and effective supplier coordination, both domestically and internationally. This role is primarily office-based, with regular interaction with production floor teams. Occasional presence in the assembly area may be required for coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Planning

  • Plan and schedule daily production orders according to customer priority.
  • Create pick lists and distribute them to assembly teams.
  • Follow up with the Purchasing team on missing parts to prevent production delays.
  • Communicate any potential delays to the Sales team promptly.
  • Analyze the top 20 assemblies to ensure sufficient stock availability.
  • Review and validate safety stock levels for assemblies and sub-assemblies; adjust when required.
  • Prepare and maintain the monthly safety stock file.
  • Track, analyze, and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to production planning and inventory management.

Buyer

  • Place purchase orders (POs) with suppliers in Canada and China.
  • Follow up on purchase orders to confirm status and update delivery dates in the system.
  • Maintain and update safety stock levels and lead time data to ensure optimal inventory levels.
  • Update delivery dates and shipping methods for intercompany purchase orders.
  • Provide suppliers with priority lists to expedite critical items.
Qualifications
  • University Degree in administration specialization in operations or engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in a similar position in a manufacturing environment.
  • Skills in spoken and written French and English.
  • Experience in production planning, inventory management, or supply chain coordination.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Excellent data analysis and Excel skills required (database analysis, VLOOKUP, dynamic tables).
  • Previous experience of ERP with SAP (MM and PP modules) is preferred.
  • Must be strong collaborator, team spirit– work seamlessly across functions.
