Pacific Christian School (PCS) is seeking a Business and Lead Financial Officer to provide leadership in the school’s business, financial, human resources, and operational functions. This senior role supports the Head of School and leadership team by ensuring that the school’s systems, structures, and resources operate smoothly and sustainably.

We are looking for someone who brings strong business and financial expertise and who is eager to serve a mission-driven educational community. While the role involves leadership and collaboration across the organization, its primary focus is on finance, human resources, and operations. The final scope of responsibilities will be shaped by the successful candidate’s experience and background. The school is open to considering this role as full-time or part-time, depending on the successful candidate’s experience, availability, and strengths.

The Role

The Business and Lead Financial Officer is responsible for the effective management of the school’s financial, business, human resources, and operational functions. Working closely with the Head of School, this role ensures that the school’s operational systems are well-designed, well-managed, and aligned with the school’s mission and strategic priorities.

The role provides leadership, oversight, and coordination across core operational areas, enabling the school’s educational leaders and teachers to focus fully on teaching and learning. Depending on experience and background, responsibilities may include:

  • Leadership of financial planning, budgeting, and financial reporting
  • Oversight of accounting processes, internal controls, and financial compliance
  • Cash flow management, forecasting, and financial analysis to support decision-making
  • Liaison with auditors, external accountants, and regulatory bodies
  • Oversight and development of human resources systems and processes, including contracts, compensation administration, and compliance
  • Support for Board-level finance, audit, and risk oversight
  • Review, development, and refinement of business and operational policies, procedures, and systems
Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a capable and thoughtful professional with experience in business, finance, and organizational operations, who is committed to serving in a Christian, faith-based school environment. The successful candidate will bring a practical, service-oriented approach to their work and the ability to manage complexity with clarity, care, and integrity.

Strong candidates will demonstrate many of the following:

  • Experience in business, financial, or operational leadership within a complex organization
  • Solid understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, and financial controls
  • The ability to design, manage, and improve systems and processes
  • Experience with, or aptitude for, human resources administration and compliance
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to work collaboratively with school leadership, staff, and external partners
  • A clear alignment with, and commitment to, the mission and Christian foundations of Pacific Christian School
  • A meaningful Christian faith as evidenced by active church participation.

Professional accounting credentials (such as CPA) are an asset but are not required. Candidates with strong practical experience in business and financial management are encouraged to apply. For candidates with more extensive experience and professional credentials, the role may be configured with broader scope and responsibility.

Compensation

$73,000–$130,000 annually (full-time equivalent)

This role may be configured at different levels depending on the experience, credentials, and scope of responsibility of the successful candidate. Candidates with strong practical business and financial experience may be appointed at a Business Manager level, while candidates with extensive experience and professional accounting credentials may be appointed with a broader Director of Finance–level scope.

Compensation will reflect the final configuration of the role, taking into account experience, qualifications, responsibilities, and full-time or part-time status.
