A healthcare organization in Nova Scotia is seeking a Biomedical Engineering Technician to inspect, maintain, and repair biomedical equipment in various hospital areas. The ideal candidate will have graduated from a recognized Biomedical Engineering program and possess a valid Class 5 vehicle license. Strong physical abilities and effective communication skills are essential for this position. This role supports patient safety and the quality of healthcare services.
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager or delegate, inspects, tests, maintains, and performs difficult repairs on biomedical and other equipment pertaining to designated areas of the hospital such as Radiology, Respiratory, Anaesthesia, and the Operating Room. Performs other related functions such as carrying out acceptance tests for new biomedical equipment, modifying equipment to improve performance and safety, and providing technical advice to equipment users.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience
Graduation from a recognized program in Biomedical Engineering Technology required, however an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.Valid Class 5 vehicle license.
