Job summary

A leading manufacturing company located in Quebec, Laval, is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to oversee all logistics and distribution operations. Summary

Responsible for implementing all distribution and logistics programs to a high level of efficiency. Thus, continually searching to reduce costs and offering a superior level of service to customers. Maintains inventory by receiving, storing, and shipping product; securing warehouse; supervising staff. Maintains a safe and productive work environment whereby team has clear direction, goals, training and accountability. This position will be responsible for supporting the Warehouse Superintendent.

This is a Full Time-Permanent Position.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Pick and pack orders timely; review work at end of day to ensure completion.
  • Receive and count stock items and record data in computer.
  • Set the tone and expectations for daily activities using strong leadership skills and proper utilization of shift group leaders.
  • Work closely with customer service to align resources to demand.
  • Accomplish warehouse human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Meet warehouse operational standards by contributing warehouse information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying warehouse system improvements.
  • Meet safety standards by ensuring safety processes and behaviors are consistently addressed and improved.
  • Move inventory by scheduling materials to be moved to and from warehouse; coordinating inventory transfers with related departments.
  • Order consumable items in a manner that prevents stock outs without carrying excess inventory. Maintain storage area by organizing floor space; adhering to storage design principles; recommending improvements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory by conducting physical cycle counts; reconciling variances; inputting data.
  • Secure warehouse and yard by turning alarms on; testing systems, monitoring cameras, enforcing policies.
  • Keep equipment operating by enforcing proper operation, training and implementing suitable Operator level PMs, providing detailed information on service requirements to maintenance; tracking equipment uptime.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Accomplish warehouse and organization mission by developing and tracking key KPIs relative to productivity, inventory accuracy, customer complaints and the like.
  • Measure and report the effectiveness of warehousing activities and employees' performance.
  • Achieve high levels of customer satisfaction through excellence in receiving, identifying, dispatching and assuring quality of goods/services.
  • Ensure shipments and inventory transactions’ accuracy.
  • Clearly communicate job expectations and coach employees. Take disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Determine staffing levels and assign workload.
  • Maintain items record, document necessary information and utilize reports to project warehouse status.
  • Identify areas of improvement and establish innovative or adjust existing work procedures and practices.
  • Confer and coordinate activities with other departments or external resources such as plowing, pest control, pallet supplier and the like.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
  • Bilingual in French and English required.
  • 2+ Years’ experience in warehousing or manufacturing for a high-volume multi-product manufacture.
  • Experience as a Shipping Loader Operator, or equivalent, and has demonstrated a good working knowledge of safe and efficient truck-loading procedures is an asset.
  • High School Diploma or GED required with some post-secondary education.
  • Highly effective supervisory skills and techniques.
  • Ability to input, retrieve and analyze data.
  • Hands-on commitment to getting the job done.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to direct and coordinate operations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Exposure to ERP systems requiring handheld picking.
  • Experience driving PIV equipment (LPG sit-downs, reach lifts, pallet riders).
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft AX-JDE-SAP preferred).
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel).
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
