Job description
Before School Support – LTO – 7.5 hrs per week Lexington

We are seeking a Before and After School Support (B.A.S.S.) employee to work alongside a Designated Early Childhood Educator (DECE) to provide play‑based programming and general supervision for junior kindergarten to grade 6 students registered in the WRDSB’s Before and After School program.

Responsibilities
  • Follow the guidance of the DECE and support positive, responsive interactions among students, parents, child‑care providers, and staff.
  • Encourage children to communicate positively and support their self‑regulation.
  • Facilitate exploration, play and inquiry, both child‑initiated and adult‑supported.
  • Support indoor/outdoor play, active play, rest and quiet time, attending to each child’s individual needs.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing requirements under the Child Care and Early Years Act.
  • Promote an anti‑oppressive, anti‑racist, and inclusive culture where all children feel seen, heard and respected.
  • Ensure the health, safety, nutrition and well‑being of the children.
  • Supervise children and follow Public Health, First Aid and Emergency procedures.
Qualifications
  • High‑school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Prior experience supervising and supporting children in a positive, safe manner.
  • Valid Standard First Aid with CPR Level C/AED or willingness to obtain within the first month of employment.
  • Current Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) – within 5 years if currently employed with WRDSB; within 6 months for new employees.
  • Completion of Licensed Child Care Staff record requirements (Region of Waterloo Public Health, Health Assessment).
  • Proof of Standard First Aid with CPR Level C/AED included in application portfolio.
