The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

The Associate Project Manager is responsible for performing work related to the planning, design, construction, and post-construction of large capital projects. The incumbent provides high level administration and supports Project Managers working on multi-million dollar capital projects across the University. They are responsible for planning, reviewing, assessing, and coordinating components of these large projects. The Associate Project Manager may also be assigned small projects for which they will assume full project management responsibility under the guidance of a Project Manager, Senior Project Manager or Associate Director.
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager or Associate Director, the Associate Project Manager is primarily responsible for supporting Project Managers, assigned to multi-million dollar capital projects managed by Infrastructure Development – Project Services, as well as their own projects. Duties include ongoing interaction and communication with clients, such as faculties and administrative departments, regulatory officials, as well as consultants and contractors. A significant part of the APMs role involves interacting and liaising with the campus community to guide the successful delivery of projects.
The nature of project management requires that numerous resource people, including staff, consultants, and contractors report to the Associate Project Manager. As construction projects vary in time and complexity, the number of such people will vary. The Associate Project Manager may have less than 10 people on a small project reporting directly and indirectly to them. The Associate Project Manager may manage up to 10 active projects at various stages of feasibility study, design and/or construction, ranging in value from $50,000 to $2.5 Million (total project budget).
Work requires independent judgement and initiative. Makes focused decisions regarding the administrative aspects of various project assignments, through the application of basic information processing principles, theories and concepts. Work will be overseen by the Senior Project Managers, Associate Director, or assigned Project Manager(s). Judgment lapses may result in project delays and missed milestones.
Reports directly to the Senior Project Manager or Associate Director. Works with a high degree of independence under the general direction from the Project Managers. The Associate Project Manager is responsible within department and University guidelines to determine what actions must be taken to achieve project goals on schedule and on budget.
The Associate Project Manager is responsible for managing all resources involved in the planning, design, construction, and post-construction tasks that they are managing on each project, including consultants and contractors, and provides technical guidance for the completion of specific tasks.
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
