Job Description
The TD Wealth Investment Manager Research (IMR) team is the center of excellence for product research management and subject matter expert for all managed investment products. The Associate role assists with IMR’s due diligence accountabilities, including active participation and documentation of investment manager due diligence reviews, preparation of research materials, and analysis of investment managers and mandates across TD Wealth’s business lines.
- Complete due diligence research reports and meeting minutes, ensuring research materials are up-to-date and accessible.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of existing tools that support the team’s research function and assist in the development of new research tools/reports.
- Acquire an in-depth knowledge of Canadian asset managers and their strategies.
- Maintain and enhance the IMR websites, internal databases and Preferred List materials.
- Execute the team’s reporting accountabilities and collaborate on various ad-hoc projects.
- Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism when dealing with internal and external business partners.
- Organize, prepare and execute periodic investment manager interviews.
- Contribute to investment analysis presentations, dashboards and scorecards.
- Stay current on industry events and participate in related company initiatives.
- Track new development and noteworthy market news on approved firms and products.
- Assist in the development of new tools and reports.
- Gather and share relevant industry information and provide fact‑based opinions and recommendations.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in the financial services industry.
- Completion of level 1 of the CFA program and registration for the level 2 CFA exam.
- University degree in a related discipline.
- Intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, eagerness to learn and strong attention to detail.
- Passion for the capital markets, asset and wealth management.
- Awareness of Canadian mutual funds, exchange traded funds or separately managed accounts and/or alternative investments.
- Collaborative and adaptive in a work environment that is both independent and team based.
- Software aptitude and literacy, particularly with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint with an ability to use technology to obtain and efficiently analyze information.
- Working knowledge of manager research software (Morningstar Direct, FactSet, eVestment or Bloomberg) would be considered a plus.
- Effective oral and written communication skills (experience with writing/editing publications would be an asset).
- Strong time management, prioritization and organizational skills are required to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
