Reporting to the Director, Office of Student Engagement, the Associate Director, Global and Experiential Learning provides strategic management, human resource management, and program leadership for the global and experiential learning curricular activities for the MBA programs portfolio.

In consultation with the Director, Office of Student Engagement, the Associate Director develops, implements, manages, and evaluates the global and experiential area’s budget, operational plans, as well as related policies and procedures in accordance with University policies and procedures. The Associate Director is responsible for ensuring that all activities and initiatives under the global and experiential learning area operate efficiently, effectively and in a manner that is consistent with the policies, objectives, and goals of the Rotman School of Management and the University of Toronto and will consult with the Director, Office of Student Engagement, and the Academic Director, Experiential and Global Learning.

In coordination with the Academic Director for Experiential and Global Learning, the Associate Director will develop, support, and supervise experiential learning opportunities for MBA students including independent studies, global consulting projects, and global practicums. They will also work closely with the Faculty Leads for the Global Manager Initiative to strengthen and maintain existing partnerships with the Ministry of Ontario and local SMBs, and to develop new partnership in support of the program. They will also work with the relevant degree program Academic Directors and the relevant faculty members with teaching responsibility for the degree-program courses associated with experiential learnings.

The Associate Director will lead and oversee MBA students’ participation in international trade missions and global practicums, providing experiential learning valued by students and potential employers. They will manage the processes and systems that ensure effective experiential and global learning for students and monitor the quality and assessment of the experiences. In addition, they will foster thought leadership experiences via participation in conferences and other public events such as roundtables that strengthen collaboration between the academic, business and policy world.

The Associate Director has managerial authority over the experiential and global learning unit and manages all functions related to human resources including organizational design, assignment of work, reorganizations as well as the hiring, performance management, professional development, and training of all staff.

Qualifications
Education

Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience developing, managing, and evaluating student/client‑focused programs, resources, events, and services ideally in an educational environment across diverse populations.
  • A proven track record of developing and executing strategic plans, successfully managing annual goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new relationships in the industry community of relevance to the Rotman School programs to grow the base of partner organizations for student experiential and global learning opportunities.
  • A proven track record as a successful leader and team builder, with management experience in a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in designing and implementing systems, processes and procedures that improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
  • Extensive experience managing expectations and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in designing and implementing experiential and global learning initiatives aimed at enhancing career development opportunities.
  • Experience in business / management school administration / management of professional master’s or MBA programs.
