St. Thomas Golf & Country Club, one of Canada’s most distinguished private clubs, invites applications for the position of Assistant Food & Beverage Manager. This is a rare opportunity to assume a leadership role at a club with an esteemed history and a deep commitment to hospitality and service excellence.
The Club is seeking an Assistant Food and Beverage Manager to lead all front of house operations including the dining, bar, and banquet operations of the Club; including all related administrative and people management responsibilities. This position calls for a candidate who values the balance of heritage and progress, and who can deliver superior member experiences across à la carte service, member dining, banquets, and Club events. This position reports to the Executive Chef.

Key Responsibilities
Event & Member Engagement
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef & Events & Communication Coordinator in the planning and execution of member events, weddings, and tournaments.
- Provide professional, responsive and friendly service to members & guests
Operations
- Responsible for all menu programming through JONAS POS system
- Responsible for all front-of-house staff scheduling
- Oversee all on-course F&B operations including beverage carts and halfway house
- Ensure monthly inventory counts are completed accurately
- Demonstrate complete and accurate knowledge of the full menu, wine and drink list, dessert menu, specials and buffet items
- Ensure impeccable standards of hygiene, food safety, and sanitation in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
- Respond to all employee and member inquiries, complaints and issues with a sense of urgency.
- Handle complaints with professionalism and tact.Take action if possible or escalate to General Manager if required.
- Ensure appropriate room set up and that food and beverage served in a professional and timely manner by circulating within the venue and communicating with all F&B staff
- Make certain members are accurately charged for all items ordered and come to a mutually beneficial resolution to any discrepancies
Procurement & Fiscal Responsibility
- Select and secure the finest beverages and products through trusted suppliers, maintaining a commitment to consistency and quality.
- Monitor budgeting, inventory, and cost control, ensuring operations remain both effective and financially responsible.
Team Guidance & Development
- Provide mentorship, training, and direction to the service staff, cultivating an environment of professionalism, pride, and excellence.
- Support staff development and succession planning, ensuring the continuation of high standards within the front of house operations.
Other
- Enforce all Health & Safety policies and dining room / service procedures & standards
- Perform other duties as requested by the Executive Chef
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of hospitality leadership experience, preferably within a private club, hotel, or upscale dining establishment.
- Demonstrated understanding of service and products within the hospitality industry
- Proven ability to lead, manage, and inspire a strong team.
- Financial acumen with experience in cost control and budgeting.
- A deep respect for tradition, accompanied by a capacity for thoughtful innovation.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
