An Indigenous training and employment organization in Winnipeg is seeking an Assistant Director of Finance to oversee financial operations, manage payroll, and ensure compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or CPA designation, along with at least 5 years of experience in financial roles. This position offers a permanent, full-time contract in a supportive and community-focused environment.
POSITION TYPE PERMANENT, FULL-TIME
The Assistant Director of Finance plays a key role within the finance team, supporting the Director of Finance in managing the organization’s financial operations. This position is responsible for assisting with a wide range of day to day accounting functions, including payroll, accounts receivable/payable, banking, and financial reporting. The role also involves contributing to the planning and development of capital and operating budgets, the preparation of financial statements, and the oversight of financial transactions to ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Assistant Director of Finance provides leadership and coordination within the finance department, supports the implementation of new fiscal policies, and is involved in staff training and supervision. This position ensures the accuracy and confidentiality of financial data and employee records and responds to financial inquiries from internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, the role supports the preparation of reports for the Director of Finance and Co-Executive Directors, and plays and active part in the annual audit process. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong organizational and leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of financial regulations and policies. The Assistant Director of Finance is expected to uphold the organization’s HR policies and the provisions of the Collective Agreement, maintaining integrity and confidentiality in all financial and personnel matters.
