Opportunity

The Assistant Director of Care of the Long‑Term Care residence works collaboratively with the senior management team to plan, organize, direct, and coordinate resident care activities within approved policies and procedures (including onboarding and annual staff education, staff health and safety and infection prevention and control programs).

What Is In It For You
  • Ensures residents’ care is evaluated continuously.
  • Works closely with the Registered Staff team and the RAI‑MDS Coordinator to ensure that the appropriate documentation is in place as per policy and to ensure regulatory compliance. Reviews and audits Point Click Care documentation including progress notes, care plans and resident assessments. Ensures that care plans are developed, updated, reviewed regularly, and followed consistently.
  • Audits resident care plans on a quarterly basis and ensures documentation accurately reflects the resident’s care requirements.
  • Responds to resident or family concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken within decision‑making authority and/or brings to the attention of the Director of Care.
What You Will Need
  • A sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long‑term care nursing including activation, nursing, and personnel administration.
  • Knowledge of The Nursing Homes Act and Regulations, Homes for Special Care Act, Extended Care Program Directives, the appropriate sections of The Health Disciplines Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Pharmacy Act, Food & Drugs Act (Canada), Narcotic Control Act (Canada) and other pertinent federal, provincial, and municipal Statutes, which influence the operation of the residence and more specifically the nursing department.
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Post‑graduate studies in nursing, nursing administration and geriatrics is considered an asset.
