Overview:

Insight Global is seeking an Assistant Controller to join a leading post-secondary institution. This role will oversee financial reporting, audits, tax compliance, and system management, while ensuring strong internal controls and process efficiency. Acting as a strategic advisor to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will play a key role in financial transparency and system integration, managing a team of seven including four direct reports.

Required Qualifications
  • Professional accounting designation in good standing and relevant degree (or equivalent education/experience).
  • 5–7 years of progressive finance/accounting experience in a large, complex, multi‑fund environment (public sector preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of Public Sector and Not‑for‑Profit Accounting Standards, GST/PST/MRDT, and CRA charity guidelines.
  • Experience with integrated financial/accounting systems and complex data analysis.
  • Proven leadership skills managing teams and driving process improvements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
  • Superior communication skills (oral and written), with ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Demonstrated tact, discretion, and sound judgment.
