Area Manager - Maintenance and Engineering
Our client, a leader in manufacturing, is seeking an Area Manager to join their team in Windsor OR Cleveland Tennessee. The qualified candidate will have 10+ years of related experience with multi-trade divisional maintenance staff, and the ability to travel between Canada and the US. The position offers a very competitive salary and benefits package.
Responsibilities
- Direct maintenance managers ensuring effective PM systems are in place and effective repairs are being made to ensure the operation is adequately supported.
- Provide direct guidance when dealing with large repairs and breakdowns.
- Incorporate organizational strategy and plans for operational safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and cost control policies and programs in our manufacturing process.
- Monitor production metrics and recommend process improvements, new technologies, and methods to maximize operational efficiency.
- Ensure spare parts inventories are adequate and up to date at all sites.
- Provide guidance and input on staffing levels and staffing structure of the various maintenance departments.
- Provide guidance for budgeting of R&M activities.
- Create, manage and maintain CAPEX budget.
- Host regular meetings with all maintenance managers to maintain communication and teamwork across all sites.
- Lead project engineers and corporate controls team with new equipment purchases and major upgrades. Responsible for process from RFQ to buyoff.
- Projects include: New buildings, expansions, renovations. Plant equipment: cranes, HAVC, compressors, chillers, etc. Production equipment: Automated weld equipment, Presses and pressroom equipment, laser cutting equipment, CNC mills, etc.
- Responsible for fostering good safety culture among all maintenance departments.
- Ensure compliance of all company and regulatory H&S regulations.
- Visit all sites from time to time to follow up on initiatives, support major projects, etc.
Qualifications / Aptitude
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years Experience with management of multi-trade divisional maintenance staff and outside contractors to achieve timely completion of tasks.
- Ability to travel in the US and Canada.
- Proven project and time management ability demonstrating experience coordinating with other departments/ divisions and/or external resources to ensure equipment/facilities are repaired as quickly and economically as possible.
