Responsibilities
  • Assemble prototype electrical and electronic systems
  • Construct, calibrate, and maintain testing or electrical equipment
  • Visit manufacturing facilities to observe environmental factors that affect the design
  • Determine remedies for the technical design issues that occur when producing electrical systems
  • Check designs for quality control, provide findings, and suggest adjustments as needed.
  • Create schematics and technical specs for experimental electronic devices.
  • Following the guidance of engineers, create basic circuitry and draft designs to clarify design specifics.
  • Create prototypes using blueprints or sketches
  • Circuitry or electronic components should be assembled, tested, and maintained in accordance with engineering specifications, electronic knowledge, and technical guides.
  • Circuitry and electronic parts should be adjusted and replaced as necessary.
  • Use bench lathes, drills, or other mechanical equipment to create components such as coils and terminal boards.
  • Keep up with technological or commercial changes by taking part in training or continuing education programs.
  • Help scientists and engineers carry out electrical engineering applied research.
  • Assemble and maintain records of the resources used, repairs or corrective action taken, installed equipment, installation or operational issues, and engineering schematics.

  • Compare or analyze manufacturing costs for sustainable and non-sustainable designs, and conduct statistical research.
Requirements
  • 2-year degree in electrical technology or a similar field.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship in electrical work.
  • Electrical technician experience of at least two years.
  • Excellent ability to solve problems.
  • A good ability to communicate.
  • Knowledgeable in using power and hand tools, soldering techniques, and fault-testing tools.
