In this Vancouver, BC-based role, you’ll balance your time between visiting our warehouse in East Vancouver and working from home, with occasional in-person team meetings.

Position Overview

As Aisle’s Design & Technical Development Assistant, you’ll work closely with the Lead Designer and CPO to support the design and technical development of Aisle products, with a focus on intimates and close-to-body apparel. You’ll assist across key stages of the design and development process—from concept through prototyping and refinement—helping translate ideas into functional, comfortable, and well-constructed products.

This role is ideal for someone early in their career who’s eager to learn, hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and excited by technical problem‑solving.

Responsibilities
Design & Development Support
  • Assist in the design and development of Aisle products from early concept through functional prototypes.
  • Support both aesthetic and technical aspects of product development, with attention to comfort, fit, and performance.
Technical Documentation
  • Assist in creating and updating tech packs, technical drawings, specifications, and construction details to support accurate prototyping.
  • Manage trim and fabric developments, as well as factory communication.
  • Build and maintain BOMs in Centric, ensuring information is clear and accurate.
  • Update line sheets throughout the season with sketches, colour ways, and product details, collaborating with cross‑functional teams as needed.
Creative & Brand Contribution
  • Support seasonal and ongoing creative direction through trend research, mood boards, and exploration of materials and technical innovations.
  • Research fabrics, trims, and construction techniques aligned with Aisle’s functional and sustainability goals.
Fit & Iteration
  • Participate in in‑person fit sessions and assist with documenting feedback related to fit, function, and comfort.
  • Help track revisions and support the translation of fit feedback into clear technical updates.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 1‑3 years of experience in apparel design, technical design, or product development
  • (recent graduates or those with relevant internships are encouraged to apply).
  • Degree, diploma, or equivalent training in fashion design, technical apparel design, or a related field.
  • Foundational proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office; comfort learning new tools and workflows.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear communicator who enjoys working collaboratively in a small, close‑knit team.
  • Curious, proactive, and motivated to learn through hands‑on experience.
  • Comfortable balancing guidance with independent problem‑solving.
Assets (Nice to Have, Not Required)
  • Experience with 3D apparel tools (CLO3D, Browzwear, or similar).
  • Basic sewing and/or pattern making experience.
  • Familiarity with Gerber or other pattern making software.
  • Exposure to technical garment construction or performance apparel.
