Position Summary
Aircraft Maintenance Technician – Mechanics will be responsible for performing maintenance on our aircraft in a safe and efficient manner at our Calgary MRO location. This is a permanent, full-time role located in Calgary, Alberta. The company encourages ideas and provides an environment for growth and great product or customer experiences.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Qualified to perform systems installation tasks under the supervision of a licensed Maintenance Technician in an AMO environment
- Report to the assigned leader; capable of taking direction verbally and through printed media
- Interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, system schematics, engineering orders, test documents, and installation manuals
- Understand other aircraft systems (hydraulic, flight controls, major components)
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and equipment (powerplant, flight control, hydraulic, landing gear, electrical)
- Perform system checks and inspections to ensure compliance with industry and safety standards
- Keep accurate records of work performed and maintain inventory of tools and equipment
- Maintain a clean work area; report safety concerns and take action on unsafe conditions
- Ensure accuracy and traceability of parts removed or installed on aircraft
- Perform other work as assigned; willingness to work shift work
- Utilize maintenance test equipment and hand tools properly for installations and repairs
- Safely operate ground support equipment (e.g., power carts, lifts when trained)
Education & Experience
- 5+ years’ experience working on the Dash 8 Classic, Q400 and/or CL Waterbombers aircraft
- Current AME “M” Transport Canada license or be working toward/eligible to obtain, or equivalent license from home country
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, organizational skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with the Internet
- Good oral and written communication skills in English
- Experience with De Havilland Aircraft of Canada products and avionics suite is an asset
- Experience with general aircraft wiring repair, fabrication, and installation
- Knowledge expected of an Aircraft Avionics and Electronics Technician for the aircraft types handled by the company
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work Monday – Friday day shift
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to obtain a Transport Canada-issued Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
Some travel between De Havilland Canada sites may be required (maximum 10%).
Work Location & Compensation
Location: 1312 Aviation Park NE, Calgary, AB T2E 7E2 and 4100 Westwinds Dr NE, Calgary, AB T3J 4L2
Term: Permanent, full-time
Salary: $38–$46/hr CAD with annual wage reviews and potential increases; potential for per diem living allowance and license premiums. Benefits include health, dental, disability, life, and RRSP match.
