Operating from across Canada at three Main Operating Bases—Gander, NL; Greenwood, NS; and Comox, BC—and headquartered in the Cormorant Support Centre in Halifax, NS, the program provides comprehensive, turnkey In-Service Support to Canada's Cormorant helicopters. This unique program provides the RCAF with a full suite of all levels of support for this critical 24/7/365 mission.

Position Overview

The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer performs first and second line aircraft maintenance on the Cormorant Helicopter in support of our Canadian Search and Rescue operations. Duties include servicing, inspection, removal, cleaning, repair, installation, adjustment, flight testing, and certification (release) of aircraft mechanical, structural, electrical systems, components, and ground support equipment.

What You Will Do
  • Perform First and Second Level maintenance on aircraft mechanical, structural, and electrical systems, and ground support equipment.
  • Support ramp duties such as pre/post flight inspection, marshalling, parking, towing, fueling/defueling, and installation/removal of mission equipment and crash and salvage response.
  • Perform ground runs of auxiliary power units, where qualified and authorized.
  • Support maintenance, ferry, and deployment operations, including travel to other bases and remote sites.
  • Provide on-the-job training to other employees.
  • Attend training for trade and personnel development, qualifications, recertification, and authorization.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and directives established by the company.
  • Provide supervision to other employees.
  • Perform other tasks as required.
What You Will Bring
  • Graduate of a recognized aircraft maintenance course or apprenticeship program with a current Aircraft Maintenance Engineers license or qualified as an aircraft aviation technician within the Canadian Armed Forces or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in aviation maintenance.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems including power plants, flight controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, environmental systems, basic structures, and power generation/distribution.
  • Knowledge of special tools, equipment, and corrosion control techniques.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation such as manuals, work packages, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Capability to perform Non-destructive Inspection.
  • Proficiency with standard and specialized computer programs.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
