We are seeking a caring and detail oriented individual to join our Public Health Team at Northgate Public Health. This Administrative Support III position is a key member of the public health team that provides integrated, strength based, family centered public health care. Our team provides public health services that promote and protect the health of individuals, groups, and communities including Immunization, Maternal Newborn Health, Well Child Clinic, School Health, and Health Promotion. The Administrative Support III will be a member of the multidisciplinary team responsible for supporting daily operations of Public Health services including greeting clients, managing phone calls, scheduling appointments, data entry/word processing, records management and anticipating the needs and demands of Public Health and its clients. This position requires proficient use of an electronic medical record and scheduling system. This position requires the following: Must be able to work in a loud, chaotic, busy environment with clients of all ages Ability to carry up to 25 lbs. of equipment. Ability to carry out awkward and repetitive movements for an entire 7.75-hour shift, including sitting, standing and/or bending for long periods of time. Comply with appropriate hand hygiene techniques, including regular use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer and antibacterial soap Perform other administrative duties to support programs and services within the Edmonton Zone Public Health portfolio are required. Duties must be completed with a high level of independence but also interdependent within a larger team environment. As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Adhere to strict organizational policies, procedures, and legislated requirements including patient confidentiality. Handle frequent interruptions and still meet workload timeline. Previous experience working with diverse communities, groups and/or organizations (i.e. ethno-cultural, equity-setting, racialized, faith-based, LGBTQ2S+, vulnerable, marginalized, persons with disabilities, and persons across all age groups, etc. Must be able to perform within established program parameters Formal medical office administration education from a recognized post-secondary institution required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered acceptable Minimum 1 year recent (within 3 years at a 0.50FTE of greater) in related experience working in an administrative support role in a healthcare environment is required. Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills exceptional customer services and support client navigation including warm hand off to appropriate services. Knowledge of computer technology and applications including website navigation, office or business applications, health database use (ePeople, Netcare, Meditech, Connect Care or other), and MS Office Suite. Work in a fast paced, chaotic, loud environment with competing concurrent priorities. Work with minimal supervision. Work well within a team environment, both locally and across multiple sites/programs Prioritize workload to meet established turnaround times.
Awareness of social determinants of health. Non-violent crisis intervention. BLS preferred.
