Administrative Assistant, Surgery/Oncology

Sinai Health is looking for an Administrative Assistant to support our Department of Surgery.

The Administrative Assistant is an essential part of a busy clinical practice within the Department of Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital. The role involves managing administrative activities independently, demonstrating excellent judgment, and providing quality customer service to support physicians' clinical practices.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Schedule patient appointments and operative procedures
  • Prepare and file charts for clinics and ensure results are documented
  • Review and transfer messages to physicians, prepare charts for new patient referrals
  • Retrieve and forward release of information documents, prepare charts for rounds
  • Maintain physicians' calendars and schedules, process clinical notes
  • Create forms, tables, spreadsheets to capture statistics
  • Provide public relations support to walk-in and telephone clients
  • Collaborate with administrative support staff and communicate with external institutions
  • Perform miscellaneous administrative duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Mandatory:

  • College diploma from an accredited institution
  • At least two years of related experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Experience with EMRs and booking systems

Preferred:

  • Diploma in Medical Office or Business Administration
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and dictation

Skills and Knowledge:
