Overview

Our exclusive and growing client, located in the South-West end of Ottawa, is currently looking for an Accountant to join their team on a full-time permanent basis.

The Accountant will be part of a Group, which is the central support system for all divisions, providing expertise in accounting, finance, marketing, human resources, and administrative support. Required skills and qualifications
  • Must have previous experience with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
  • Previous project accounting experience considered a strong asset
  • Bachelor\'s degree in commerce / accounting
  • CPA designation considered an asset
  • Experience using accounting software such as: QuickBooks Online, Sage, Maestro, Great Plains, etc.
  • Proficient with MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Effective English communication skills, bilingual (English / French) considered an asset
  • Team player attitude who is willing to help wherever needed within the organization
Duties
  • Preparing customer invoices and following up on outstanding payments
  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies
  • Processing supplier invoices and employee expense claims
  • Maintaining and updating ledgers, journals, and other accounting records
  • Accurately posting transactions to the general ledger
  • Ensuring proper filing and organization of financial documents
  • Updating manufacturer commissions in OASIS system
  • Performing monthly bank reconciliations
  • Investigating and resolving discrepancies in financial statements
  • Supporting preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Assisting with journal entries, accruals, and prepayments
  • Updating manufacturers buy/sell in based on information provided by the Project / Order Management team and updating accordingly
  • Filing manufacturer contracts, maintaining manufacturer terms, mailing lists and contacts in database
  • Helping with audits by preparing necessary schedules and documentation
  • Assisting in preparing sales tax returns
  • Performing financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards
  • Supporting the finance team with ad hoc tasks and special projects
Schedule and Salary

Monday to Friday - 8:00am to 4:30pm - Fridays 9:00am to 3:30pm

Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 per year depending on experience
