Job Summary

Perform a variety of mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical maintenance activities on equipment to ensure safe operations, meet production goals, and uphold quality standards. Responsibilities include sourcing and ordering parts for obsolete equipment, documenting maintenance activities, performing preventive maintenance, installations, and validations. Support and collaborate with Process, QA, and Facilities teams to resolve issues, implement improvements, and conduct investigations. Service and maintain multiple machines while learning others in the department. Work from prints, sketches, sample parts, or instructions, interpret drawings, plan material use, and layout work sequentially. Maintain and set up Vision Systems during production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Identify problems using schematics/prints and perform repairs to ensure safe equipment operation.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust ancillary equipment like blow overs, bulb pullers, heaters.
  • Perform changeovers and setups on Vision Systems, making minor adjustments as needed.
  • Mix inks and dispose of waste according to safety and QA guidelines for printing machines.
  • Change machine gear oils and dispose of used oils properly.
  • Rebuild or retrofit machines or components as per specifications.
  • Install, replace, or decommission equipment.
  • Perform validations for equipment as needed.
  • Train new mechanics on machine repair and setup in collaboration with the training department.
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks on or before deadlines and communicate completion.
  • Source and stock obsolete parts for equipment.
  • Locate parts in the stockroom using systems like MP2.
  • Participate in company programs like continuous improvement, safety initiatives, audits, and investigations.
  • Support projects and improvement initiatives across departments.
  • Document daily tasks in the maintenance log before shift end.
  • Protect all confidential information.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Enhance technical skills through workshops and training supported by West.
  • Follow engineering guidelines and safety policies.
  • Maintain reliable and punctual attendance.
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Work Experience
  • No minimum required.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic understanding of machine operation and mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Willingness to work overtime, be proactive, team-oriented, and capable of independent work.
