Responsibilities

• Perform procurement functions while ensuring compliance with state laws and University policies
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop best-value sourcing strategies and assist with procurement inquiries
• Analyze performance data and document processes to optimize sourcing strategies
• Lead complex sourcing events and manage transactional procurement tasks
• Carry out special projects assigned by the Category Manager, meeting quality and timeline expectations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred for Sourcing Specialist; required for Senior Sourcing Specialist
• At least three years of relevant experience in procurement or supply chain functions for Sourcing Specialist; five years for Senior Sourcing Specialist
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Proven analytical skills with experience in reporting on metrics and cost savings
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience negotiating and managing procurement across complex categories
• Familiarity with supplier diversity initiatives and Lean/continuous improvement methods
• Knowledge of systems such as Salesforce, Workday, and procure-to-pay platforms
• Understanding of procurement legislation at federal and Virginia state levels
• Experience supporting accounts payable and finance functions related to procurement
