About the Opportunity

As part of their remote‑first tech team via Workana Premium, you’ll join as a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer and lead feature work that touches both product and platform. The app is built on Rails with a sleek mobile webview — and it’s scaling fast across Europe, Japan, and the UK.

What You’ll Build

Your first months will focus on two high‑impact projects:

• A custom in‑house customer service platform (think Zendesk, rebuilt for the privacy‑sensitive needs of a dating app)
• A story‑based matching feature where users connect through shared fantasies — match on desire, not looks.

Both projects will stretch your backend muscles and offer plenty of room to improve architecture, performance, and team processes.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities

• Implement backend features in Ruby on Rails for both web and mobile
• Design performant APIs and services that scale
• Collaborate with frontend (Vue / React) and mobile freelancers
• Refactor legacy logic and improve performance on high‑traffic code
• Drive technical decisions as you grow into deeper ownership

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience with Ruby on Rails
• Strong database skills (MySQL, Redis, MongoDB)
• Solid frontend awareness (React / Vue, HTML / CSS) — you’ll interface with it, not own it
• Collaborative mindset — you’ll work with a distributed team across LATAM and Europe
• Familiarity with mobile (Swift / Kotlin) ecosystems is a plus
• Self‑sufficient, communicative, and product‑aware

Nice‑to‑Have

• Hotwire, WebRTC, AI / LLM interest
• Experience with moderation tools, chat / messaging features, or user privacy systems
