Boeing Brazil is seeking Senior Avionics Systems Engineer, reporting to the Avionics Manager, working out of the Sao Jose Dos Campos office.

The Senior Avionics Systems Engineer will join the team in defining and integrating airplane electronic and electrical systems across our commercial fleet. This position will be assigned to work with one of the following systems: Air Data and Inertial, Datalink, Displays, Flight Management, Model Based Engineering, Radio Communication, Radio Navigation, Surveillance, and Thrust Management.

All projects center on the translation of concepts and high-level requirements to specific architectures and operational specifications including the physical integration of electrical systems and components into our complex airplanes. Work with a worldwide supplier base to implement system hardware and software. Validate designs through both laboratory and airplane testing. Work with aircraft systems from initial concept through certification, delivery, and through their production life. We are continually evolving the state of the art in commercial air transport.

Position Responsibilities
  • Develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements.
  • Analyze and translate requirements into system, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.
  • Design hardware, software and interface specifications.
  • Test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
  • Resolve problems concerning and provide support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
  • Author and peer review Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and System Safety Assessment (SSA) documents.
  • Research specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs.
  • Occasional national and/or international travel may be required.

This position is hybrid / telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Must have existing rights to work in Brazil.
  • Must have a degree in Engineering.
  • Proficient in both verbal and written communications skills in the English Language.
  • Must be registered or eligible to register with the Engineering and Agronomy Regional Council (Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia - CREA).
  • Experience working with one or more Avionics Systems described above.
Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience)
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, with degrees in Aeronautical, Automation and Control, Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • Relevant experience with product development life cycle (e.g., V-model application on ARP-4754), requirements management and design review.
  • Relevant experience with environmental qualification process.
  • Relevant experience with Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), System Safety Assessment (SSA), and ARP4761 Safety Assessment.
  • Relevant experience with product certification process.

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Brazil. Candidates must have current legal authorization to live and work in Brazil. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.
