Descrição da oferta de emprego
Physics Department, University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez, USA

The group of Quantum Materials Dynamics is seeking a motivated postdoctoral scientist with a background in nonlinear optics and condensed matter physics. The objective of this program is to employ nonlinear ultrafast spectroscopy to investigate photodynamic processes in iron‑based superconductors, aiming to understand and control quasiparticle dynamics, the evolution of transient nematic, structural, superconducting, and other quantum phases in iron‑based superconductors. This fellowship will provide an opportunity to work with experimentalists and theorists in the Physics Department at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez, USA. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team to conduct research in the field of Ultrafast Nonlinear Optics and Condensed Matter Physics. Facilities include spectrophotometers, tr‑scatterometer, and various femtosecond and picosecond laser sources (~35 fs, 130 fs, 20 ps): 1 mJ and 6 mJ, 1 kHz regeneratively‑amplified Ti:Sapphire laser systems equipped with optical parametric amplifiers.

The postdoc must have strong experience in Condensed Matter Physics and Nonlinear Optics: i.e., designing, assembling, and aligning various experimental setups of femtosecond spectroscopy to study materials. The candidate will be responsible for conducting research using different experimental techniques of ultrafast spectroscopy, THz spectroscopy, and time‑resolved optical diffraction over a broad spectral range (UV to mid‑IR) at cryogenic temperatures. The research is to investigate quantum phases, and transient spectral, electronic, and structural dynamics in iron‑based superconductors. The critical requirement for the candidate is strong skills in writing scientific papers, based on high‑level experimental data analysis using analytical and numerical techniques. The individual is expected to write and submit manuscripts based on the work in the laboratory.

Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Physics/Engineering or related field;
  • Expert knowledge in experimental condensed matter physics and nonlinear optics;
  • Expert technical knowledge in data analysis;
  • Strong skills in writing scientific papers;
  • Maintain reporting of deliverables to the grantor.

Applications should be sent by email to Dr. Sergiy Lysenko: sergiy.lysenko@upr.edu.

  • Application letter.
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • Contacts for three academic references.

This postdoctoral position is for one year with the possibility of renewal. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and early expressions of interest are encouraged.
