A leading global technology provider is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to lead a small team while remaining hands-on in PHP and Node.js development. The role involves guiding a modernization effort that includes migrating legacy applications and containerizing services. Candidates should have strong PHP skills, leadership experience, and familiarity with Docker. This is a fully remote position based in Brazil with a salary range of 20k-28k BRL per month.

Qualificações

• 8+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, with strong emphasis on PHP.
• Minimum 1 year of lead development experience.
• Strong PHP 7.x and 8.x background, comfortable with upgrading and eliminating vulnerabilities.
• Hands-on experience with Node.js, updating libraries and ensuring proper packaging.
• Experience with Docker containerization.

Responsabilidades

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, with strong emphasis on PHP
• Minimum 1 year of lead development experience (technical leadership, guidance, oversight)
• Strong PHP 7.x and 8.x background (ideally working with PHP in the most recent project) – Comfortable upgrading PHP versions and eliminating underlying vulnerabilities
• Hands-on experience with Node.js — updating underlying libraries and ensuring proper packaging
• Experience with Docker containerization (application-side responsibilities, not Kubernetes cluster management)

Day-to-Day

In this role, you'll lead a small engineering team (3–5 developers) while remaining hands-on with PHP and Node.js development. You'll help scope work, estimate story points, guide best practices, and ensure high-quality delivery as the team modernizes and migrates legacy applications. This includes supporting a large-scale infrastructure initiative to containerize and move roughly 40 legacy PHP applications onto a Kubernetes-based platform. The work involves lift-and-shift migration with targeted refactoring—preserving the existing codebase, reducing redundancy across applications, containerizing services, and helping move source control into GitHub with updated CI / CD pipelines. You'll partner closely with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure application standards and deployment requirements are met throughout the modernization effort.
