A prominent humanitarian organization in Brazil is seeking a Grant Accountant to oversee financial management, compliance with donor regulations, and accurate budgeting processes. The ideal candidate should possess a university degree in Accounting or Finance, along with advanced skills in budget preparation and financial reporting. Strong communication and team-building skills are essential. Candidates with extensive knowledge of USAID guidelines and seven years of grant accounting experience, including supervisory roles, will be prioritized. This position requires some office-based work, with about 15% travel involved.

Qualificações

Job Description
Planning and Budgeting
  • Ensuring project budget is clear and aligned with Project goals, outcomes, by giving due consideration to WVI Finances policies and donor regulations.
  • Assist Projects with grant cash flow preparation and follow up on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare on quarterly basis Cash Flow Analysis and submit to the donor for approval and subsequent funding through modifications.
  • Update and reconcile MyPbas on regular basis to ensure the project has enough budget commitment.
Financial Accountability and Reporting
  • Classify the budget with WV Analysis codes and post it in Sun 6 database on annual basis and make adjustments when necessary.
  • Review and update grant coding in Sun system and vouchers to ensure compliance with FFM and donor requirements.
  • Review all grant journal entries to correct errors in grant finance report.
  • Review all project interface against coding before posting in Sun6 on weekly basis.
  • Prepare and submit high quality financial reports for the donor, such as but not limited to Quarterly Financial Report, Quarterly Pipeline Analysis and Annual Expenditure Analysis.
  • Monitor and review actual grant expenditures against approved donor line items on a monthly basis; alert management to any irregularities and make recommendations concerning the re-negotiation or approved grant line items with the donor government where appropriate.
  • Upload transactions to general ledger/Voucher Interface,
  • Reviews invoices prior to payment processing to the supplier, to ensure compliance with internal policies,
  • Ensure that all expenditures are in compliance with the donor regulations such as source, origin and cost principles.
  • Prepare financial reports with project management on monthly basis and submit the FFR review minutes on database.
  • Assist in financial monitoring by contributing to the development of financial monitoring system, analyzing and sharing financial reports/ information.
  • Participate in monitoring of partners financial and accounting operations as per agreements, local government, WV requirements and donor regulations; review and analysis partner’s financial reports; and assist necessary amendments on partners.
  • Encoder Timesheet on Workday System monthly for all staff doesn’t WVCentral.
Risk Management and Control
  • Assist to set up proper internal control system in programme/project team.
  • Extract Accounting listings on monthly basis and review and make adjustments where necessary.
  • Ensure Blocked Party Screening of vendors and batch processing is completed before contracting vendors to provide service to the grant.
  • Provide oversight for sub-grantee financial operations, including assessment of financial and accounting capacity, as well as mentoring and capacity building of sub-grantee finance staff.
  • Implement and manage the grant tracking/monitoring system, ensuring all relevant grant information is accessible on a timely basis and properly summarized for rapid managerial decision-making.
  • Conduct regular visits to the project sites to verify the availability, quantity and quality of the goods and services delivered to the beneficiaries.
Staff Capacity Building
  • Assess capacity gaps and training needs for all sub-grants and grant staff, working in collaboration with P& C team.
  • Interpret the Grant Financial Reports to non-finance grant staff so that they understand the impact of project implementation.
  • Provide ongoing technical support and advice to WV or partner staff in areas of finances.
Leadership and Management (Others)
  • Participate in Grant Performance tracking monthly.
  • Communicate World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others.
  • Participate in daily devotions and support spiritual development of grant team.
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
  • Have a university degree in Accounting or Finance related fields.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant is preferable.
  • Requires at least seven years grant accounting experience and budgetary preparation skills, preferably within a non-governmental organization. A minimum of three of which must be in a senior supervisory role.
  • Knowledge and experience in USAID grant regulations and processes is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and practical knowledge of financial systems and internal financial controls and procedures.
  • Computer knowledge, good ability of spreadsheet, accounting systems such as Sun system and Vision excel.

  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
Working Environment / Conditions
  • Work environment: Office-based with some travel to the field.
  • Travel: 15% Domestic travel is required.
