The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, at least 10 years of experience in industrial piping, and proficiency in AutoCAD. Overview

Responsible for serving as the technical reference and accountable lead within the piping discipline, with a focus on leading modification projects for fleet units, while also driving long-term strategies, the review and development of technical guides and internal specifications, and action plans. This includes assessing and identifying improvements in business value, compliance, and technical safety to ensure enhanced fleet performance, aligned with best practices across the MODEC Group shared as common standards, as well as promoting research and development.

Responsibilities and assignments

We are looking for a Piping Principal Engineer to work in our Base in RIO DE JANEIRO, RJ developing activities such as:

• Lead the development and validation of the piping scope for conceptual, basic, detailed design, and cost estimate phases for fleet unit modifications, ensuring that modifications meet MODEC/international standards and the Classification Society requirements.
• Provide technical support and act as validator for specific Management of Change (MOC) cases across the fleet, as well as for Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Technical Queries/Studies (TQ) related to the Piping discipline.
• Analyze and guide the development of strategic documents related to the Piping discipline, such as philosophies, guides, and technical notes, in order to maintain fleet compliance with regulations, industry standards, and MODEC’s global policies.
• Contribute to MODEC’s internal lessons-learned process, capturing and addressing improvement opportunities that can be applied to operating units as well as to new FPSOs under design, while maintaining communication channels with other entities within MODEC Inc.
• Maximize business lifecycle value and ensure fleet performance enhancement by developing and researching new technologies, proposing KPIs, providing technical guidance in resolving Piping-related issues, and developing continuous improvement action plans.
• Support internal, external, and regulatory audits by providing engineering technical expertise within the Piping discipline scope.

Requirements and qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, or civil engineering is mandatory.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial piping.
• Prior experience in the O&G sector and FPSOs is expected.
• Valid CREA registration is mandatory.
• Postgraduate studies in areas related to the discipline of expertise are expected.
• MBA or equivalent is a plus.
• Advanced English is mandatory. Fluency is a plus.
• Proficiency in 2D drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD) is mandatory.
• Knowledge of 3D model visualization software (e.g., Navisworks) is expected.
• Experience with piping stress analysis and related software (e.g., CAESAR II) is expected.
• Experience with 3D modeling (e.g., AVEVA E3D) is a plus.
• Experience with structural analysis and related software (e.g., ANSYS) is a plus.
• Experience with CMMS software (e.g., SAP) is a plus.
