Job Title: Material Engineer – High Rise Construction

Job Overview

The Material Engineer for High Rise Construction will be responsible for selecting, testing, and managing construction materials to ensure the safety, durability, and cost-effectiveness of high-rise projects.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in sourcing and evaluating materials, in-depth knowledge of material properties, and experience working with complex high-rise structures.

Key Responsibilities

1. Select and specify appropriate construction materials (e.g., concrete, steel, aggregates, and composite materials) for high-rise structures.
2. Evaluate the performance of materials under different environmental conditions to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety regulations.
3. Conduct material tests (compression, tensile, durability, and chemical testing) to validate the quality and suitability of materials.
4. Ensure all materials meet local and international standards, including ASTM, BS, and ISO requirements.
5. Coordinate with third-party testing agencies to validate test results and issue compliance certificates.
6. Evaluate and approve suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery capabilities.
7. Monitor material delivery schedules and resolve any supply chain issues that may impact project timelines.
8. Conduct regular site inspections to ensure proper handling, storage, and use of materials according to the project requirements.
9. Identify and troubleshoot material-related issues that arise during construction.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Material Science, or a related discipline.
2. Minimum of 10+ years of experience as a Material Engineer in high-rise or large-scale construction projects.
3. Proficiency in material testing procedures and standards (e.g., ASTM, BS, ACI).
4. Familiarity with construction management software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Primavera).
