Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the UAE is seeking a Welding Co Ordinator / Welding Engineer responsible for supervising pipeline welding activities, ensuring resource availability, and managing a team of welders. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of relevant experience, strong communication skills in English, and an Engineering degree. Familiarity with various welding codes and proactive risk management are essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • Min. 5 years of significant experience as welding engineer for Oil & Gas.
  • Strong communication skills with fluency in English.

Responsibilities

  • Setting, supervising, and carrying out activities related to pipeline welding.
  • Selecting welders and monitoring performance.
  • Coordinating with NDT, welding inspection team, and Client QC.
  • Full responsibility over welding team for productivity, safety, and quality.
  • Ensuring availability of welding resources including machines and consumables.

Skills

Technical experience in pipeline welding using GTAW, SMAW
Working knowledge of pipeline welding code API 1104
Ability to read and implement WPS & ITP
Proactive risk identification and communication
Problem solving and decision-making ability

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Metallurgy, Mechanical)
International Welding Engineer Diploma (IWT / IWE)

Job Description - Welding Co Ordinator / Welding Engineer
  • Setting, Supervising & carry out activities related to pipeline welding at Site
  • Select Welders based on requirements of Material of Construction & monitor performance
  • Coordinate with NDT, Welding inspection team & Client QC
  • Full responsibility over welding team i.e. Welding foreman, pipeline welders, helpers etc. for daily productivity, safety & quality.
  • Ensuring availably of resources i.e. Welding Team, Welding machine, Welding consumable etc.
  • Well conversant with welding procedures, project welding specification & applicable construction code.
  • Assessment & evaluation of welding work environment & provide welding facility requirements including equipment, personal protection & HSE.
  • Qualification of Welders & Welding procedure as per Pipeline Construction Code.
Skill Required
  • Technical experience in pipeline welding using welding process such as GTAW, SMAw for material CS & CRA ( Inconel 625)
  • Working Knowledge of pipeline welding code API 1104, DNV-OS-F101, ISO 13623 & Welding code ASME Sec IX, ISO 9606, ISO 15614-1 etc.
  • Ability to read, understand & implement WPS & ITP for pipeline
  • Proactively identify & communicate Risk to Project Schedule, deliverables & cost, provide mitigation plan as required.
  • Problem solving & decision-making ability
Educations & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Metallurgy, Mechanical or relevant field)
  • International Welding Engineer Diploma (IWT / IWE from IIW or EWF)
  • Min. 5 Years of significant experience as welding engineer for Oil& Gas, Piping, Pipeline Fabrication
  • Strong Communication skill with Fluency in English - Speaking & Writing
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
