Job Title: International Engineering Manager

Location: UK and International

About Joseph Gallagher Limited: Joseph Gallagher Limited is an industry leader in civil engineering, known for our expertise in delivering complex projects with innovative solutions. We are expanding our team and looking for a skilled International Engineering Manager to oversee our tunnelling projects across the Middle East and the UK.

The Role: As an International Engineering Manager, you will oversee our segment tunnelling and SCL (Sprayed Concrete Lining) works and lead on engineering aspects. You will play a crucial role in potentially integrating Drill and Blast techniques, enhancing our project capabilities. You will also assist with proposal development and submission. This role is pivotal in managing project delivery, ensuring safety and efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of quality. Projects include desalination, hydro-electricity, rail and road transport, utilities, and some bespoke and iconic projects in Saudi Arabia.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and direct the engineering aspects of segment tunnelling and SCL operations.
• Oversee the integration of Drill and Blast methods with new and existing projects, depending on project requirements.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and cost-efficient delivery.
• Lead project planning, resource allocation, and execution to meet or exceed project deliverables.
• Serve as the primary technical advisor for tunnelling and underground construction projects.
• Facilitate communication between project sites and headquarters, ensuring timely and accurate project updates.
• Travel between the Middle East, Europe, and the UK as required.
• Ensure health and safety standards are above legal requirements, aligning with both UK and country-specific regulations.
• Lead and support our behaviour safety programme, LIFE.
• Previous experience with micro tunnelling and large-scale TBM contracts is required.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in tunnelling, particularly in segment tunnelling and SCL works.
• Familiarity with Drill and Blast operations is highly desirable.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage international teams of up to 39 nationalities.
• Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
• Relevant engineering degree or equivalent professional qualification.
