Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced professional for testing and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree and have at least 6 years in relevant industries such as oil & gas. Responsibilities include planning and executing tests, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This is a full-time position with no remote work option.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute testing and commissioning activities for electrical and instrumentation systems as per project requirements.

  • Perform functional tests system integration tests loop checks and site acceptance tests (SAT).

  • Identify troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to electrical and instrumentation systems during testing and commissioning.

  • Ensure that all systems are tested in compliance with industry standards safety regulations and client specifications.

  • Prepare and maintain detailed test reports commissioning records and documentation.

  • Coordinate with project teams contractors and clients to facilitate smooth commissioning processes.

  • Provide technical support and training to end-users or operators on system functionality and operation.

  • Ensure adherence to health safety and environmental (HSE) guidelines during all commissioning activities.

  • Conduct final inspections and verification of electrical and instrumentation equipment functionality before handover.

  • Recommend modifications or improvements based on test results and operational feedback.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Instrumentation or a related Engineering field.

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in testing and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems in industries such as oil & gas power plants or manufacturing.

  • Strong knowledge of industry standards safety regulations and commissioning procedures for electrical and instrumentation systems.

  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings P&IDs schematics and control diagrams.

  • Hands‑on experience with testing tools instruments and software used in electrical and instrumentation commissioning processes.

  • Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with various stakeholders.

  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Additional Information
  • Certification in commissioning processes (e.g. Certified Commissioning Professional - CCP) is a plus.

  • Experience with PLC/SCADA systems DCS control systems or industrial automation is an added advantage.

  • Knowledge of hazardous area classifications ATEX standards and intrinsically safe instrumentation is beneficial.
