About the team: The team is building a global one-stop procurement platform that powers ByteDance's worldwide growth and operations. We empower buyers with AI to craft optimal procurement plans and automate execution, turning procurement data into measurable outcomes. We embrace platformization and extensibility, adopting industry best practices to enable cross-functional collaboration and lay strong foundations for long-term evolution.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will own services and systems end-to-end, propose sound architectures, and ensure the platform is efficient, stable, and evolvable. You'll collaborate closely with product, design, and cross-regional engineering teams to advance platform capabilities, reliability, and developer experience, while mentoring teammates and raising the overall technical bar.

• Design, build, and evolve backend services with maintainability, scalability, and observability.
• Partner with product, design, and cross-functional teams to ship new capabilities and improve experience.
• Improve reliability via performance analysis, tuning, and code quality initiatives.
• Mentor teammates through reviews, architecture guidance, and knowledge sharing.
• Drive mid-to-long-term technical roadmaps with clear evolution strategies.
• Solve complex problems with proven approaches, and help the team tackle challenges more effectively.

Qualification

Minimum Qualification(s)

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or related fields.
• 4+ years of backend development or equivalent depth; owns systems of medium complexity and beyond.
• Proficient in Golang / Java / Python (one or more) with solid backend architecture experience.
• Familiar with messaging middleware, relational databases, and common backend patterns (idempotency, retries, rate limiting, async jobs).
• Skilled in performance analysis and tuning; understands reliability engineering and observability.

Preferred Qualification(s)

• Experience building platformized products or shared services across multiple domains.
• Experience building stable and extensible distributed services.
• Demonstrated technical leadership driving alignment and results in complex environments.
• Practical AI application in procurement or supply chain (recommendation, forecasting, optimization, automation).
