Senior Process Engineer (oil & gas facilities development)

Reports to

Lead Process Engineer

Job Purpose

The Senior Process Engineer in Facilities Development team is responsible for executing in-house / external engineering studies develop process concepts and evaluate options for modifications to onshore / offshore facilities and provide process support during later implementation of these modifications.

Responsibilities
  • Establish the study basis.
  • Conduct relevant Process Engineering activities such as but not limited to process simulations sizing calculations preparation of conceptual Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) and specification of Long Lead Items.
  • Conduct in-house studies: Identify and evaluate feasible options and prepare study reporting as defined in the Engineering Work Request (EWR) system.
  • Liaison with other Company teams to establish relevant Capital Expenditure (CapEx)/Operating Expenses (OpEx) estimates for study concepts.
  • Compile all relevant study documentation for filing.
  • Provide process support during implementation of facility modifications.
  • Fulfill the role as Solution Owner for implementation of minor process related modifications via Engineering s Change Approval Form (CAF) system.
  • Prepare technical inputs to Opportunity Development Process ODP gate presentations and present contents at gate meetings: Gate 1 (Identify) Gate 2 (Assess / Concept Select) and Gate 3 (Sanction).
  • Maintain high level involvement during implementation phase of projects and if required participate in safety workshops.
  • Occasional site visits to offshore and onshore facilities may be required for discussions and scope definition.
  • Arrange vendor meetings for validation/selection of technologies.
Requirements

Educational Qualifications: Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering.

Experience Profile:

  • 10 years process / chemical engineering experience in oil and gas environment.
  • Should have worked with facilities development plants feasibility studies and conceptual design; preferable should have experience of all project design phases from conceptual design through to detailed design.
  • Experience with process simulation software such as Hyprotech Solutions (HYSYS) PIPESIM; should have capability of using and preferable developing in-house MS Excel sheets.
  • Experience with developing strategic/economic sensitivity modelling to conduct high level assessment for concepts development.
  • Preferable should have experience in brownfield modifications.

  • Communicate in fluent English; write technical reports in a structured way and possess good presentation skills.
  • Willingness to interact directly with people.
  • Enjoy working as part of a multi-cultural team.
  • Ability to work in an organised and structured fashion and within time constraints.
  • A valid United Arab Emirates (UAE) driving license or the ability to get one.
