Job Description
Wood is currently looking for a Senior Planning Engineer to join our UAE Business Unit and become part of our in-house Project Controls team. This is a full‑time on‑site role in Sharjah, UAE, with a 5/2 work schedule.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Provide the Project Management with accurate monthly cost and progress reports incorporating early warning, forecast completions, critical‑path and trend analyses.
- Ensure that all work is performed without compromise to quality and in line with the company’s procedures.
- Maintain a high standard of safety at all times.
- Advise the project team on cost control, planning and contract compliance.
- Track progress and reports against the approved baseline plan.
- Prepare special progress reports, cost reports and forecasts for team activities.
- Assist in the change‑management process with project leaders and contractors.
- Coordinate routine progress reporting.
- Participate in reporting on process and cost.
- Develop a suitable Work Breakdown Structure covering the project requirements / scope of works.
- Develop, baseline, update and maintain detailed project schedules for various phases of project execution, including but not limited to design development, construction, pre‑commissioning and start‑up.
- Coordinate with client representatives, team members, contractors and subcontractors to consider all project requirements.
- Coordinate and follow up with project engineers and other stakeholders for inputs and updates to required reports and schedules within the required time.
- Present cost reports, schedules and manpower histograms to the project team and client when required.
- Provide training, mentoring and ongoing project controls guidance to project team members.
- Support the development of project controls team members.
- Identify and share lessons learned to support continuous improvement of project performance and company operations.
- Possess fair knowledge of planning in terms of schedule integration between engineering, procurement and construction.
- Hands‑on experience in the development of EPC schedules during the FEED phase to identify the EPC contractor.
- Be an outgoing and motivated individual who is comfortable working in a collaborative environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Graduate degree along with PMP is preferred.
- Experience working with multi‑national and multi‑cultural project teams is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience working in the Middle East would be an advantage.
- Expertise in writing reports.
- Familiarity with project controls systems.
- Good oral and communication skills.
- Must be able to supervise and delegate.
