Wood is recruiting for a Senior Pipeline Designer to join its UAE Business Unit focusing on supporting Lead Pipeline Engineer in developing cost‑effective pipeline design and drawings for Major Onshore Brownfield & Greenfield Projects in Sharjah, UAE on a 5/2 work schedule.

This role is a full-time office‑based role in Sharjah, UAE.

The role

Wood is recruiting for a Senior Pipeline Designer to join its UAE Business Unit focusing on supporting Lead Pipeline Engineer in developing cost‑effective pipeline design and drawings for Major Onshore Brownfield & Greenfield Projects in Sharjah, UAE on a 5/2 work schedule.

This role is a full‑time office‑based role in Sharjah, UAE.

Our Clients and Projects

Wood has been awarded a general engineering contract to support an International Client operator to deliver a portfolio of onshore capital projects by provision of engineering and project management services (including EPC contract management), as well as Supply Chain, Construction and Commissioning support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices. Projects include both Greenfield and Brownfield modification projects and integrating low‑carbon solutions to support our client’s energy transition and emissions reduction goals.

Key Objectives
  • Promote safe behaviour at all times.
  • Support Lead Pipeline Engineer in developing cost‑effective pipeline design and drawings.
  • Ensure work is completed without compromising quality and delivered according to schedule.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines for interdisciplinary checks.
  • Display a working knowledge of industry standard drafting practices and general engineering knowledge.
Technical Skills
  • Perform a desktop study for pipeline routing and suggest a suitable route based on best engineering practice.
  • Prepare scope of work for topographical and underground utility survey.
  • Prepare pipeline schematic drawing, overall, route maps, key plans, alignment sheets, station approach drawings, pipeline layouts for above‑ground pipelines, typical construction drawings, etc. in accordance with specifications, international codes & standards.
  • Prepare pipeline detail / bulk MTO, crossing schedule and support schedule.
  • Review site visit/route survey report as needed.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines during all stages of pipeline design/drawings development.
  • Provide technical support to site as required.
  • Familiarity with key pipeline design codes and standards.
  • Input to piping discipline regarding on‑plot / off‑plot interface areas at process plant.
  • Coordinate with topographical contractors and site personnel for finalisation of pipeline route and construction drawings.

Expected
  • Diploma or HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or relevant subject).
Business & Industry Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience.
  • Experience in FEED, detailed design, brownfield/greenfield, upstream oil.
  • Familiarisation with ArcGIS software.
  • E3D experience would be an advantage.
  • Experience reviewing site survey data.
  • Previous experience working in the Middle East would be an advantage.
