Position

Senior Network Coordinator, Middle East and North Africa Consular Network

Grade: Band 15
Location: Dubai
Reporting to: Consular Regional Director, MENA
Contract: 1 year Renewable Contract

Background

The Middle East and North Africa Consular Network comprises 26 posts and over 85 staff, stretching from Morocco to Iran. The Network is responsible for the delivery of consular services (assistance, documentary services and preventative activity) to British Nationals. It is a highly cohesive and effective network, whose reputation is strong in terms of innovation and delivery.

The Senior Network Coordinator (SNC) coordinates Consular Network activity and has a pivotal role on issues such as learning and development, finance and intranet development. The SNC also manages the Rapid Deployment Team (RDT) for the Middle East and South Asia, working closely with crisis teams in London, Asia Pacific and the Americas.

Main duties
  • Regional Manager for the Middle East & South Asia RDT
  • Deputy Regional Resilience Network Coordinator
  • Network Budget Coordinator
  • Network Learning & Development Coordinator
  • Oversight of Network job-swaps and job-shadowing
  • Design and development of MENA Consular Network SharePoint site
  • Business planning and other support to CRD and Consular Board of Management
  • Analysis of Network Management Information
  • Line Management of Assistant Network Coordinator
  • Participation in Embassy emergency planning and any response to a crisis affecting UK citizens

Working Hours and Remuneration

Conditioned working hours are 38 hours per week. Standard working hours are from 07.30am until 2.30pm on Sunday to Thursday, but work outside these hours may also be required to meet operational needs, especially during a crisis.

As MESA RDT Manager, the job holder will be expected to be on call approximately one week in two. On-call weeks are coordinated with the Assistant Network Coordinator, who is also the Deputy RDT Manager.

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including: salary of AED14,957 per month, inclusive of all allowances, Band 15; performance bonus; five weeks’ vacation per annum; excellent medical insurance; free, on‑site parking (subject to availability); and free access to on‑site swimming pool, gymnasium and sports facilities.

An additional RDT allowance of the equivalent of £55 per week will be paid for on‑call weeks.
