The role requires designing inline inspection tools and robotic systems and conducting analyses using FEM/CAE tools. Job description

PipeCare Group is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team.

By providing technology and service focused solutions to the international arena of the oil and gas industry, the PipeCare Group of companies has been helping our customers ensure the integrity of their pipeline and facility assets for over 20 years.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design inline inspection tools and robotic systems from concept through detailed design and production release.
  • Conduct analyses using FEM/CAE tools (including ANSYS) to validate performance, strength, and reliability.
  • Execute component and material selection based on mechanical performance, environmental conditions, and lifecycle requirements.
  • Develop complete engineering documentation including manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Support prototype fabrication, functional testing, qualification, and iterative design improvements.
  • Define and prepare assembly procedures and maintenance documentation.
  • Support production startup, root‑cause failure analysis, and continuous design optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Technical Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in mechanical and/or robotic system design using SOLIDWORKS.
  • Proficient in detailed mechanical design, 2D/3D drawings, BOM preparation, design calculations, computer simulations, validation, and optimization.
  • Strong experience in ANSYS for structural, thermal, and mechanical analyses.
  • Experience in the design and analysis of pigging tools, pipeline inspection crawlers, robotic inspection mechanisms, and in‑pipe mobility systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong exposure to design for manufacture (DFM/DFA) and production engineering environments.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Mobility: Must be able to walk and climb to perform duties, including maneuvering within a refinery or plant environment and accessing elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.
  • Communication: Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, or other communication capabilities, to communicate effectively.
  • Focus and Multitasking: Ability to maintain focus and multitask effectively.
  • Safety Equipment: Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection, if/where needed in manufacturing environments.
  • Personal Mobility and Reflexes: Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform office duties and travel to off‑site locations when necessary.
