Job Description
Automotive Lab Sales Roles & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for driving business growth by promoting specialized laboratory testing services—specifically Metrology, Mechanical Testing, Climatic/IP Testing, Vibration Testing, and Electrical & Electronics (E&E)—to clients in the automotive industry.
  • Strong technical understanding of testing environments, industry standards, and customer requirements, combined with sales acumen and relationship‑building skill.
  • Identify, qualify, and acquire new clients including OEMs, Tier‑1/Tier‑2 suppliers, automotive electronics manufacturers, and R&D centers.
  • Promote a comprehensive range of laboratory services:
  • Metrology (dimensional inspection, calibration, Q&DT, CMM services)
  • Mechanical Testing (tensile, compression, fatigue, hardness, impact, material characterization)
  • Climatic & IP Testing (temperature/humidity cycling, thermal shock, dust/water ingress IPx testing)
  • Vibration Testing (sine, random vibration, shock, combined environment)
  • Electrical & Electronics (E&E) testing (EMC/EMI, functional testing, electrical endurance, component reliability)
  • Prepare quotations, technical proposals, and commercial offers tailored to customer specifications.
  • Achieve assigned sales targets through structured pipeline management and strategic account planning.
  • Client Relationship Management: Act as the primary interface between customers and the R&D lab teams.
  • Support customers in selecting appropriate testing methods based on standards such as ISO, ASTM, IEC, SAE, LV124/125, and OEM‑specific test plans.
  • Monitor ongoing projects, ensuring timely execution, sample coordination, and delivery of final reports.
  • Build long‑term relationships by providing consistent technical and commercial support.
  • Market & Technical Expertise: Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of automotive testing requirements, regulatory changes, and industry trends.
  • Understand customer pain points related to product durability, compliance, validation, and reliability testing.
  • Provide internal feedback regarding new market opportunities, competitor activities, and service expansion areas.
  • Internal Collaboration: Work closely with laboratory engineers, metrology specialists, program managers, and project coordinators to ensure project feasibility and accuracy of proposals.
  • Support marketing by participating in trade shows, technical seminars, and promotional initiatives.
  • Contribute to budgeting and forecasting based on real‑time market data.
  • Equivalent technical experience in automotive testing may also be considered.
  • Experience with testing equipment or services such as environmental chambers, vibration shakers, and E&E test systems is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of testing standards (ISO, IEC, SAE, ASTM, OEM specs).
  • Skills: Ability to explain technical test methods to both engineers and purchasing teams.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage a territory, prioritize leads, and close deals independently.
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Key Competencies: Technical aptitude and analytical mindset; customer‑driven and solution‑oriented.
  • Strong organizational and project follow‑up skills; customer communication and consultative selling.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced and deadline‑driven environment.
  • Promoting the lab services through the region and achieve a sales target.
