Job Brief:
The Planning Engineer will be responsible for effective maintenance planning, scheduling, and coordination to ensure optimal equipment reliability and minimal downtime. This role supports preventive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance activities while ensuring accuracy, data integrity, and efficiency within the SAP PM system.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan and schedule maintenance activities for the Maintenance Department to support smooth plant operations.
- Develop and maintain weekly, monthly, and annual shutdown maintenance plans for paper machines and winders.
- Convert maintenance notifications into detailed work orders by clearly defining job scope, materials, tools, duration, and manpower requirements.
- Prepare and maintain task lists, Bills of Materials (BOMs), work instructions, checklists, and technical documentation within SAP PM.
- Schedule work orders in SAP and coordinate job readiness with the Senior Mechanical Engineer and maintenance technicians.
- Ensure spare parts reservations and follow up with warehouse and procurement teams to confirm availability.
- Monitor maintenance backlog, overdue preventive maintenance tasks, and key maintenance KPIs, ensuring timely completion and accurate reporting.
- Participate in troubleshooting activities when required and assist in preparing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports.
- Recommend improvements to preventive maintenance tasks, frequencies, and inspection criteria to reduce repetitive failures.
- Prepare shutdown job lists, Gantt charts, and resource plans using MS Project.
- Facilitate daily and weekly coordination meetings with Production and Maintenance teams.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of SAP PM master data, including equipment records, BOMs, task lists, and maintenance strategies.
- Monitor data quality and correct inconsistencies such as incorrect materials, durations, or repetitive notification types.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for the CMMS structure to enhance planning efficiency and reporting accuracy.
- Participate in the preparation of Job Safety Statements.
- Participate in the on-call duty roster as required.
- Perform any other tasks assigned in support of the Maintenance Department.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- Proven experience in maintenance planning and scheduling within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP PM for maintenance planning, work orders, and master data management.
- Experience planning maintenance activities for heavy equipment, preferably in paper manufacturing or similar continuous process industries.
- Good understanding of preventive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance processes.
- Proficiency in MS Project for shutdown planning and Gantt chart preparation.
- Strong coordination, analytical, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work closely with production, maintenance, warehouse, and procurement teams.
