Job summary

A multinational technology company in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Planning & Monitoring Engineer to assist in project management for 400kV GIS projects. The ideal candidate should have at least 6 years of relevant experience in the energy and power industry, strong expertise in project scheduling tools, and excellent skills in cost control management. This role requires thorough knowledge of project life cycles and effective communication skills.

Qualifications

Job description
JOB PURPOSE:

The Planning & Monitoring Engineer is responsible for assisting the Senior Planning & Monitoring Engineer in coordination with the Project Management Team & functional managers, including performing delay analysis as dictated by the relevant contracts.

The person performing this role has to possess thorough knowledge & experience in the entire life cycle of projects from initiation till close-out.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participate in creating Project baseline schedules, Project costs, Resource allocation as per TAQA requirements with Senior Planning Engineer.
  • Establish project Work Break-down Structure (WBS) and Project Control Strategy.
  • Establish a Tender & Master Projects Time Schedule.
  • Participate in establishing a Cost Breakdown Structure & earned value calculations as per TAQA scheduling requirements.
  • Coordinate with Senior Planning Engineer for preparation of project measurement procedure as per TAQA requirements “Manpower & machinery histogram, S curves for progress & billing”.
  • Create and implement project cost management systems and manage project costs throughout project lifecycle.
  • Accurately report total cost of projects considering various factors such as material, labor, commercial, PMC, etc.
  • Monitor actual cost against project baseline budget and taking corrective actions for items exceeding budget.
  • Prepare cash flows based on current trends and ensuring projects stay within budget.
  • Prepare & submit the Forecast Cost Report with clear validation to show the differences from previous month.
  • Assist in enhancing the internal reporting system by coordinating with the Senior Planning Engineer.
  • Assist in issuing the external report by coordination with Senior Planning Engineer as per TAQA Requirements.
  • Assist in establishment of a recovery / revised schedule as per project status.
  • Assist in maintaining resources histogram by coordination with project management team.
  • Maintain and update the project schedule.
  • Follow up the projects progress, and highlight the reasons of delay derived from Variance Analysis.
  • Prepare and review the daily, weekly and monthly progress reports for internal & external reporting.
  • Utilize project planning and monitoring tools effectively to ensure compliance with project timelines, budgets and quality standards.
  • Tracking progress measurements & support the finance team for invoice preparation & submission.
  • Prepare & maintain material control list.
  • Assist in preparing EOT claims by extracting the delay events & review the sub-contractor’s EOT.
  • Record costs in EBS in coordination with the commercial team.
  • Perform any other related tasks assigned as per the directives of the Senior Planning Engineer and the HOD (Engineering).
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
Educational Qualification:
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience as a Planning and Monitoring Engineer in handling 400kV GIS projects from the energy & power industry in the GCC/UAE.
Certifications:
  • Expertise in: Project Scheduling & Primavera P6 - EPC Project Management, Power BI, Oracle and MS projects.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
  • Exceptional knowledge in Cost Control Management, Project risk assessment management, Contract management, Interface Coordination, and Conflict Resolution.
  • Leadership, team building, communication, critical thinking, decision-making, problem solving skills are mandatory.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to present complex, technical information to a wide audience.
  • High competence in technical writing, systems development and utilization.
