Supervise and manage all piping fabrication, erection, and testing activities on-site, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and schedule requirements. Coordinate with engineering, quality, and project teams to achieve seamless workflow and timely project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise piping groups and equipment in piping fabrication, erection, and testing works.
- Obtain Permit to Work for assigned activities and carry out works in compliance with Permit to Work conditions.
- Read, interpret, and follow method statements and procedures, competent in understanding specifications, piping plans, general arrangement drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and all related project and engineering documentation.
- Coordinate and liaise with Piping Superintendents, Piping Engineers, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow on the work site.
- Plan and organize construction works to ensure optimum productivity, quality, and safety.
- Prepare material requisitions as per isometrics for fabrication and field erection; organize work groups and equipment to achieve set targets.
- Carry out material inspections, review Material Test Certificates of piping, fittings, accessories, and consumables; verify suitability against specifications and confirm material traceability.
- Report daily, weekly, and monthly progress; identify scaffolding requirements and other services well in advance to facilitate piping works without disruption.
- Prepare requests for inspections as per Inspection Test Plans, coordinate with the Quality Department for timely inspections, and obtain clearances for downstream activities.
- Liaise with Client, Contractor, and Quality Inspectors for smooth functioning of site activities.
- Conduct line walkdowns, punch listing, clear punch points, carry out pressure tests, and reinstate the line as required.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
- Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Work Experience: 12–20 years in industrial oil & gas piping and pipe support fabrication, erection, and pressure testing.
- Thorough knowledge of piping materials, welding consumables, and welder qualification ranges.
- Familiarity with international standards and specifications for piping and welding.
- Skilled in reading/interpreting piping drawings, preparing pressure test packages, checklists, and mechanical completion certificates.
- Strong workforce and equipment management skills.
- Knowledgeable in piping tools, welding equipment, and rigging accessories.
- Well-versed in oil & gas HSE requirements, work practices, and quality standards.
