Summary

This position is affiliated with Cincinnati’s Children’s Hospital in the USA. The Consultant in Pediatric Neurosurgery with experience in epilepsy provides expert care for children with neurological disorders including epilepsy, neuromuscular diseases, developmental delays, and neurogenetic conditions. The consultant leads diagnostic evaluation, develops individualized treatment plans, and works with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The role also includes mentoring staff, contributing to research, and supporting the hospital’s goal of excellence in pediatric neurology services.

Education/Qualification
  1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
  2. Post-qualification certification
    • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
    • USA: American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
    • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC)
    • UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
    • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-board/equivalent certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland (CCST), United Kingdom (CCT) Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden OR Switzerland
    • Sub-Specialties: Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-sub-specialty certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, or the UK.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience after obtaining the main specialty qualification in United Kingdom (CESR) Portugal, Spain, or Italy
    • Sub-Specialties: Minimum of four (4) years of experience after obtaining the sub-specialty qualification in Portugal, Spain, or Italy.
License
  • Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and manage children with a wide range of neurological disorders, including epilepsy, neuromuscular conditions, neurodevelopmental disorders, and neurogenetic diseases.
  • Conduct and interpret diagnostic tests such as EEG, EMG, nerve conduction studies, and neuroimaging.
  • Develop individualized care plans including medical management, rehabilitation, and supportive therapies.
  • Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists, rehabilitation teams, and allied health professionals to provide comprehensive care.
  • Lead multidisciplinary clinics and case discussions for complex neurological conditions.
  • Provide perioperative neurological consultation and follow-up when required.
  • Supervise, teach, and mentor residents, fellows, and junior staff in pediatric neurology.
  • Participate in clinical research, audits, and quality improvement projects.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, ethical practice, and compliance with hospital policies and UAE regulations.
  • Educate patients and families about neurological conditions, treatment options, and expected outcomes.
