Job Title: Payment Tech Lead

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payment Tech Lead to oversee the design, development, and maintenance of payment systems and financial technology platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in payment gateway integrations, backend architecture, and system scalability, along with proven experience leading engineering teams in fast-paced fintech environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design and development of payment processing systems, APIs, and integrations with banks, PSPs, and financial institutions.
• Architect and maintain high-performance, secure, and scalable payment infrastructures (authorization, capture, settlement, reconciliation).
• Oversee integration with card schemes, wallets, and alternative payment methods.
• Manage and mentor a team of software engineers (frontend, backend, DevOps), ensuring best practices and code quality.
• Drive architecture decisions related to microservices, database design, event-driven systems, and API management.
• Ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards (PCI-DSS, KYC, AML).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Compliance, Business, QA) to deliver robust payment solutions.
• Optimize system reliability, latency, and transaction throughput through monitoring, analytics, and continuous improvement.
• Evaluate new technologies and tools to enhance performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Handle incident response and root cause analysis for production issues related to payments infrastructure.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation for architecture, APIs, and deployments.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 6+ years in software development, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior engineering role in fintech or payment systems.
• Strong proficiency in backend development using Node.js, Java, Go, or Python.
• Deep understanding of payment flows, transaction lifecycles, reconciliation, and settlement processes.
• Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong background in databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Experience integrating with Visa, MasterCard, Stripe, Adyen, Checkout.com, or similar gateways.
• Knowledge of PCI-DSS compliance, tokenization, and encryption standards.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
