OVERVIEW/BASIC FUNCTION:
The Outlet Cashier is responsible to ensure accurate, secure, and efficient handling of guest billing, payments, credit and cash transactions at F&B outlets/bars.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Comply with hotel financial and audit policies
- Accurately process guest bills and payments.
- Safeguard cash and other payment instruments including cc machine
- Collect assigned cash float and verify amount as per float sheet
- Ensure receipt printer, POS terminal and payment devices are functioning
- Generate bills strictly through the POS system
- Apply discounts, promotions or vouchers only with proper authorization
- Ensue all voids or corrections are approved and documented.
- Verify credit card transaction amount before processing, ensure successful authorization and provide guest copy of receipt
- Room posting, ensure guest name, room number and signature is verified and accurately posted to the correct room.
- Never leave cash drawer unattended and POS login credentials are not shared
- Report any cash discrepancies immediately to finance
- Close POS shift and generate required reports
- Reconcile cash, card, and room charge totals with POS report
- Coordinate with Front office & Food and Beverage department.
- Is responsible for internal auditing of House Funds as well as other internal controls as needed.
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.
- Any other duties as required and assigned by Finance department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience: Minimum one year outlet cashier handling experience.
- Education: High school diploma; related college courses.
- General Skills: Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
- Technical Skills: Ability to input and access information into spreadsheet software; ability to maintain concentration and think clearly; ability to prioritize, organize and follow-up; ability to promote positive relations with vendors and staff alike; ability to count cash accurately and quickly; ability to maintain confidentiality of cash transactions; ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision; ability to remain stationary at assigned post for extended periods of time; ability to focus on details and resolve numerical problems; ability to work cohesively with other departments and co-workers as part of a team.
- Language: Required to speak, read and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred.
