Job Purpose:
The position is responsible for delivering MEP designs, standards, cost estimates, and BOQs in alignment with overall project plans and ad hoc requirements. The role requires expertise in designing MEP systems for fit-out projects, including restaurants and office spaces—with a strong emphasis on compliance with UAE regulations and international design codes.
Responsibilities:
- Produce MEP Designs & BOQs as per the Design team’s requirements.
- Produce high level / detailed estimates based on the requirements.
- Conduct site visits prior to the design process and prepare detailed reports.
- Ability to propose Value Engineering options to facilitate cost reduction.
- Review and assess material submittals for compliance with specifications.
- Conduct detailed reviews of shop drawings.
- Perform MEP inspections on-site and prepare comprehensive reports.
- Ensure all designs adhere to Americana MEP guidelines and industry standards.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical / Mechanical)
- Knowledge of Word, Excel and Power Point is essential.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, HAP, Duct sizer , Pipe sizers is a must.
Experience:
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a MEP Design Engineer.
- Prior experience in Retail / Hospitality sector / F&B brands will be a plus.
Knowledge:
- Strong ability to read architectural drawings.
- Solid knowledge of MEP systems, specifications, and local authority compliance.
- Familiar with Pre-Contract procedures.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office (especially Excel).
- Up-to-date with latest construction technologies.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of MEP design principles, techniques, and practices.
- Experienced in cost management, pre-design budgeting, and preparing estimates with minimal design info.
- Skilled in reading Architectural/ID drawings and preparing MEP BOQs.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs, measurements, valuations, and review tender/contract documents.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, quantity surveyors, and other stakeholders for accurate financial information.
- Brings innovative ideas to improve MEP efficiency, construction quality, and reduce CapEx.
- Ensures compliance with standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Knowledgeable about MEP equipment and materials; capable of reviewing and approving submittals.
- Works with architects, designers, and contractors to align project goals and timelines.
- Applies value management techniques at project outset.
- Meets deadlines and maintains high-quality work ethics without supervision.
