Mechanical Engineer:
12 months contract - (extendable)
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for supporting and supervising mechanical works across various building projects, including warehouses, fit‑outs, and labor accommodations. The role ensures that projects are completed on time, within scope, aligned with specifications and standards, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a range of engineering duties related to construction projects, including calculations, cost analysis, BOQs, reviewing drawings, and evaluating specifications.
- Participate in reviewing contractor activities to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Review mechanical drawings, plans, and submissions from consultants and contractors to confirm alignment with standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications.
- Apply technical and commercial judgement in evaluating variations, claims, and new work items.
- Possess strong knowledge of local authority requirements, regulations, permits, and NOC procedures relevant to project execution.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and report any issues.
- Oversee day‑to‑day activities of technical consultants and ensure effective utilisation and delivery of assignments.
- Manage multiple small to medium‑size projects, providing regular status updates to ensure successful delivery.
- Prepare project reports at agreed intervals and as required based on project activity.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to determine project specifications and requirements.
- Evaluate project progress and prepare detailed progress reports.
- Review and assess periodic progress reports submitted by consultants or contractors.
- Demonstrate strong verbal communication and presentation skills.
Analysis and Reporting
- Support periodic management reporting on project status, including schedules, costs, risks, and opportunities.
- Assist in conducting risk assessments for assigned projects and ensure timely resolution of identified risks and issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent discipline.
- Project Management certifications such as PMP are an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in similar construction‑based mechanical engineering roles.
- Fluent in English.
- Strong technical knowledge in mechanical and electrical elements within construction projects (including warehouses and labor accommodations).
- Excellent project management skills.
- NFPA or Civil Defense certifications are an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
