About the Role – Procurement Expeditor / Material Engineer (Civil)

The Procurement Expeditor / Material Engineer (Civil) plays a critical role in ensuring that approved construction materials are procured, tracked, and delivered on time while meeting project specifications and quality standards. This position acts as a key link between procurement, vendors, consultants, and site teams, supporting uninterrupted construction progress.

Key Responsibilities
Procurement Expediting & Coordination
  • Expedite purchase orders to ensure on-time manufacturing, dispatch, and delivery of civil construction materials
  • Follow up with suppliers on production schedules, delivery timelines, and logistics
  • Coordinate with procurement teams on PO status, variations, and delivery priorities
  • Track material movement and resolve delays, shortages, or discrepancies
Material Engineering & Technical Compliance
  • Review and verify material submittals, technical datasheets, and compliance documents
  • Ensure materials conform to approved drawings, BOQs, project specifications, and authority requirements
  • Coordinate with consultants for material approvals, inspections, and mock-ups
  • Monitor sample approvals, test reports, and material certifications
Site & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Liaise with site engineers, planning teams, and project managers to align material deliveries with construction schedules
  • Support site teams during material inspections, approvals, and handovers
  • Address site queries related to material quality, alternatives, and technical clarifications
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain detailed records of material approvals, delivery logs, submittals, and vendor correspondence
  • Prepare material tracking reports and expediting status updates
  • Ensure compliance with company quality, procurement, and audit standards
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • 5–10 years of experience in material engineering, procurement expediting, or site coordination
  • Strong exposure to civil construction materials such as concrete, steel, formwork, finishing materials, and waterproofing systems
  • Experience working with developers, main contractors, or PMC consultants
  • UAE / GCC project experience is highly preferred
Required Skills & Competencies
  • Strong understanding of civil materials, specifications, and approval processes
  • Experience in material submittals, expediting, and vendor coordination
  • Ability to interpret drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications
  • Excellent follow-up, coordination, and communication skills
  • Familiarity with ERP / document control systems (SAP, Oracle, Aconex, Procore, or similar)
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working in fast-track project environments
