Job summary

A governmental Islamic body in Dubai is seeking individuals for the roles of Imam and Muezzin. The Imam is responsible for leading prayers, delivering sermons, and ensuring the mosque's upkeep, while the Muezzin calls to prayer and assists the Imam. Candidates should have memorized part of the Holy Quran and be familiar with Tajweed. Financial compensation is 7000 dirhams per month for the Imam with additional payment for sermons, and 5000 dirhams for the Muezzin. Ethical conduct in religious services is crucial.

Qualifications

Job description

Conditions for assignment (imam and preacher)

• Carrying out the tasks of leading the prayer, according to the specific times for prayers in the mosque to which he is assigned, and performing the tasks of calling the call to prayer in the absence of the muezzin.
• Follow up on religious activities in the mosque, follow up on workers in the mosque (lower in rank) and ensure that they carry out the tasks assigned to them.
• Ensure that the mosque is opened and closed, that the lights are turned off at the specified times, and that the mosque, its facilities, contents, and library are maintained clean.
• Preventing the collection of donations, tables, and sleeping in the mosque, and adhering to the ethics and etiquette, the document of professional conduct, and the ethics of religious functions.
• Carrying out preaching tasks and leading the worshipers in accordance with the rules and instructions in force in the department.
• Read the Friday sermon from the paper, do not improvise, and adhere to the time specified for the sermon along with prayer.
• Not delving into issues of fatwa and various jurisprudential matters.
• Adherence to the official dress (dishdasha + ghutra and aqal).

Conditions for appointment (muezzin)

• Carrying out the duties of the call to prayer, according to the specified times for prayers in the mosque to which he is assigned, and carrying out the duties of leading the prayer in the absence of the imam.

Financial Considerations

• Imam and preacher: The total cost of the assignment is an amount of 7000 dirhams per month only, in addition to 500 dirhams for each sermon you are assigned.
• Muezzin: The total cost of the assignment is 5000 dirhams per month only.

Working hours

• Imam and preacher: from Saturday to Friday and perform (3) obligatory prayers per day as a minimum, or what is assigned to him by the competent administration within the framework of the agreed-upon service.
• Muezzin: From Saturday to Friday, performing (3) obligatory prayers per day as a minimum, or what is assigned to him by the competent administration, within the framework of the agreed upon service.
