Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Economist to join our dynamic and growing team. As an Economist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality economic analysis, policy advice, and strategic insights to our clients across various sectors in the Middle East and globally. You will be involved in a broad range of projects, from socio-economic baseline assessments and cost-benefit analysis to policy analysis and strategy development. Your expertise will support decision-making and drive commercial success for our clients, ensuring societal well-being and sustainable development.

Responsibilities
  • Support WSP’s engagements in economic analysis, advisory, and strategic consultancy.
  • Provide advice on economic, strategic development and related policy matters, ensuring high-quality outputs for clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams, ensuring continued business growth and successful project delivery.
  • Conduct comprehensive economic analysis, including quantitative and qualitative research, market assessments, and economic modelling.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of economic tools, modelling frameworks, and methodologies used within the organisation.
  • Play a supporting role to Senior Economists and the team Manager in developing and securing new business opportunities, including preparing proposals, tender submissions, and stakeholder communications.
  • Support project delivery within business management systems, working with our Project Managers to ensure timely and budget-conscious execution.
Qualifications
  • A strong background in economic analysis, strategy development, and/or business case creation across a range of sectors.
  • Consultancy experience with a proven track record in delivering projects.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet modelling, economic data analysis, and relevant software tools.
  • Experience in handling large datasets, conducting statistical analysis, and presenting findings in clear and accessible formats.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and presentations in English. Proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with a focus on delivering practical, actionable solutions.
  • An undergraduate degree in economics or a closely related discipline is required. A postgraduate qualification is highly desirable, with a focus on microeconomics, public policy, or environmental economics being advantageous.
Desired Skills and Competencies
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to support multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and client expectations.
  • A good understanding of economic trends and markets relevant to public and private sector clients.
  • Experience with socio-economic analysis, market research, and impact assessments, and policy design.
  • Familiarity with national and international sources of government and business statistics.
  • A proven ability to develop professional networks and work as part of a cohesive team.
  • GIS skills are highly desirable.
